Inverters
are electrical back-up appliances which will switch to using batteries
when the mains supply have been cut off. The inverterts have an input
that collects electric charges which will charge the batteries and at
the same time supply the load. When the main source of supply have now
been cut-off, it will now seize to get
power
from the input; the batteries that have been connected to it will then
begin to supply power through the output. The period of switching is
usually about less than a second.
The batteries of inverters are placed on racks usually beside the inverters.
A
UPS is quiet different from the inverter in the sense that, the load of
a UPS is connected directly to the batteries, so it does not need to
switch incase there is power outage from the mains. In most cases the
batteries are placed inside the UPS.
